On Tuesday, April 28th, the Federal Railroad Administration hosted the annual Rail Tech Summit at the U.S. Department of Transportation headquarters in Washington, DC. All Things Trains had a chance to visit, seeing exhibits that discussed autonomous rail and AI-enhanced railcar inspection technologies, among other devices and strategies being showcased.
FRA Administrator (and former President of Pan Am Railways/Guilford Transportation Industries) David Fink played a key role in the gathering, which also included an extensive discussion of efforts by Amtrak to increase the consistency and value of its services.
