Big news from Steamtown: Union Pacific's Big Boy, #4014, will be coming to Scranton to be displayed from June 17-30, 2026. This will see the engine travel down the former Erie Lackawanna Railroad's Scranton Division mainline, including the Tunkhannock and Kingsley viaducts, and put it in the company of the large number of steam locomotives on the property, which covers the former EL/DL&W City Yard and shop facilities. This visit is part of Union Pacific's America 250 tour, where UP #4014 is traveling across the carrier's system and that of prospective merger partner Norfolk Southern.
And yes, #4014 will be displayed alongside her sister #4012, who is a permanent Steamtown Resident.
Reservations will be required, with distribution beginning at 10am ET on Wednesday, April 29th at https://www.recreation.gov/ticket/facility/10088803
