The Canadian National Railway (NYSE: CNI, TSX: CNR) released its results for the first quarter of 2026 before the stock market opened on Wednesday, April 29th. The mixed release included:
Positive:
- Revenue Ton-Miles increased 3%, hitting a record
- Free cash flow of C$900 million is 44% higher than for the same period in 2025
Negative:
- Revenue of C$4.379 billion decreased by 1% or C$24 million
- Operating income of C$1.549 billion decreased by 4% or C$61 million
- Net income, C$1.146 billion, declined by 1% or C$15 million
- Operating Ratio rose by 120 basis points to 64.6%
