On April 9th, GoRail, the Washington, DC-based freight rail advocacy nonprofit appointed Betsy Cantwell to serve as its President. Cantwell has served in a variety of roles for the organization, since joining in 2015 as Communications Director.

Cantwell takes over following the death of longtime senior executive Michael Gaynor, and she will continue to lead the organization's efforts to articulate the benefits of freight rail throughout the public policy and business communities.

GoRail began operations in 2004 as Growth Options for the 21st Century (Go21) and was recognized for its efforts by Norfolk Southern in the form of NS 6963, an EMD SD60E which was originally built for the Chicago & North Western in 1986 as a standard cab SD60.
