Colebrookdale Railroad Receives $25M Federal Grant

The Boyertown-based Colebrookdale Railroad has received a $25 million federal grant to support a variety of improvements for both freight and passenger services. U.S. Senator John Fetterman was instrumental in securing the funds, and this comes after the nonprofit carrier has worked in recent years to expand both core aspects of its businesses.

Colebrookdale operates an 8.6-mile line between Pottstown (its connection with Norfolk Southern's Harrisburg Line) and Boyertown on a former branch of the Reading. In its post-Conrail life, previous operators have included the Anthracite Railway, Andy Muller's Blue Mountain & Reading, East Penn, and Eastern Berks Gateway before the current operator, led by Nathaniel Guest, took over.

For more information on the grant see the official release from Sen. Fetterman (here), and from WFMZ-TV (here).
