While Union Pacific's Big Boy tours several east coast states, the company also had a presence at the Great American State Fair, which took place on the National Mall in Washington, DC for portions of June and July.
All Things Trains Chairman Phil Bell visited the fair several times and spent some time with UP's exhibit within the State of Nebraska's Pavilion. It included information on the proposed UP-NS merger, as well as a locomotive simulator, where one could get a feel for the desktop control stand found in locomotives such as EMD's SD60 and GE's AC400CW.
