Following a New York Post article that outlined ballooning legal costs at New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the agency which controls the Metro-North Railroad, Long Island Railroad, and New York City's Subway network, General Counsel Paige Graves stepped aside.

Graves had been part of the MTA for 14 years, including work with the Long Island Rail Road, led a staff of more than 300 people, and earned approximately $344,000 in 2025, more than New York Governor Kathy Hochul. Her time with the agency included a variety of changes, including the opening of the 2nd Avenue Subway, though the combination of her salary and the costs of outside legal work cast a shadow over the latter portion of her tenure.
