Canadian signal maintainers, represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, struck CPKC on Monday, June 1, 2026. The action represents approximately 300 employees and is confined to the former CP Rail lines in Canada, with no reports of picket lines on the former Soo Line, Milwaukee Road, and Kansas City Southern portions of the system. CPKC continues to conduct its operations with no substantial disruptions reported.
This comes weeks after a 3-day strike on the Long Island Rail Road which led to substantial concessions to a wide swath of that carrier's unionized workforce.
