Utah Town Threatens to Derail Tourist Train

Since 2009, the South Weber (UT) Model Railroad Club has offered trips on its 1/8 scale trains in Canyon Weber Park. However, Fox 13 (Salt Lake City) reports that municipal officials in South Weber have raised a number of objections to the club's operations and are considering an end to the free services.

A statement from South Weber stated: "We truly wish the club was successful, but the history of the club outside the public eye over 15 plus years has been one of unfulfilled potential, unmet expectations and promises, and overall lack of support and resources, which necessitate the city council considering termination at this time."

While on a much smaller scale, this disagreement echoes the friction between the Indiana Transportation Museum and officials in Noblesville, IN which first led to the end of the museum's trains that served the Indiana State Fair and later led to the museum's eviction from its leasehold and the scrapping of several pieces of equipment.
